Find out why a post didn't publish, fix the cause, and send it again without creating duplicates.

Before you start

  • Open the workspace the post belongs to.
  • Don't create a new copy of the post yet. Check the existing one first so you don't post twice.

Open the feature

Choose Calendar in the left sidebar. To find problem posts quickly in Month or Week view, open Filters, expand Post Status, tick Failed or Partially Published, and click Apply. Click a post to open its details.

Steps

  1. Open the post and read the message under it. It explains why the post failed.
  2. If you see Re-authenticate this profile to resume scheduling., click Re-authenticate Now and reconnect the account.
  3. If the message names a problem with your text or media, click Reschedule. The composer opens so you can fix the post and schedule it again.
  4. If nothing needs changing, click Retry Now to send the same post again.
  5. If the post went live but its first comment didn't (Your post is officially up! However, the first comment couldn't be published.), click Retry next to the comment. You'll see Sent to publish!.
  6. If a thread shows Last 1 thread failed (or more), click Retry. The composer opens so you can send the thread posts that didn't go out.

Review the Queue before retrying

For account-by-account recovery, open the Queue's Failed tab and inspect each post's error before retrying or rescheduling. See Review and manage posts in the Queue.

Expected result

After Retry Now, you'll see Retrying this post now. Refresh in a minute to see the result. Refresh Calendar after a minute: the post shows as published, or shows a new message if it failed again.

Example

Your Facebook post failed overnight because the account was disconnected, but the same post went out on LinkedIn. Open Calendar, filter Post Status to Failed and click the Facebook post. Click Re-authenticate Now and reconnect the Page. Open the post again and click Retry Now. Leave the LinkedIn post alone; it already published.

Limits and permissions

  • Each account's post succeeds or fails on its own. Fix and retry only the ones that failed.
  • For a multi-account post, check each account's result separately in Calendar. Retry or reschedule only the failed account's post; leave posts that already published untouched to avoid duplicates.
  • Reconnecting an account doesn't resend old failed posts. Retry each one after you reconnect.
  • Plan limits apply separately to each social account, keeping the earliest scheduled posts within its allowance. After an upgrade, eligible future posts can resume scheduling. Failed posts, missed past dates, pending approvals and posts held for another reason are not automatically retried.
  • Retry Now only appears on failed posts that haven't published. It isn't offered on posts that are on hold, for example when the queue is paused or an account is locked.
  • A post marked Your post is being processed and will go live soon. No action needed. is still in progress. Don't retry it.

Troubleshooting

  • Retry Now shows an error: read the message, fix the cause, then use Reschedule instead.
  • The post says it didn't publish at its scheduled time: Retry Now isn't available for it. Click Reschedule and pick a new time. The post publishes at that time like any other scheduled post.
  • Social Champ says it couldn't confirm whether the post published: the post may already be live. Check the social account first. If the post isn't there, open the post's menu, click Duplicate post and schedule the copy. Rescheduling the original won't send it.
  • Moving a post says the new time is saved, but the post couldn't be scheduled for it: the post kept its new time but won't publish at it yet. Move it again, or click Reschedule and pick a time. If the message keeps coming back, contact Support with the post's date, time and account.
  • An Instagram post failed with Instagram didn't accept this trial reel: this account doesn't have trial reels yet, or it has reached Instagram's limit for them. Choose Reschedule, turn off Trial reel in Instagram Options, then schedule it to publish as a regular Reel.
  • An Instagram post failed because the account reached Instagram's limit of 50 posts in 24 hours: Instagram counts posts from every app connected to the account, not just Social Champ, and each frame of a multi-frame story counts as one post. The limit resets on a rolling 24-hour window. Wait, then click Retry Now. For a story, you can also click Reschedule and remove some frames.
  • An X post failed with X allows 280 characters for this account or X didn't accept this post, which has N characters: X refused the post, or one part of its thread, as too long for this account. The message shows that text's length. Edit the post to shorten it to 280 characters or fewer, then retry it. For a thread, the parts that already published aren't posted again.
  • The post failed again after a retry: check the new message under the post. If it's the same, contact Support with the post's date, time and account.
  • You can't find the post: clear your filters, check the date range, and make sure you're in the right workspace.

Facebook Page post went live but a mention was not tagged

When a Facebook Page post includes a custom mention and Facebook cannot tag one of its Pages, for example because the Page was deleted, restricted or unpublished, Facebook still publishes the post and drops that tag. Social Champ then marks the post Partially Published and sends a Mention not tagged notification in the app. Open the post in Calendar to see which Pages were not tagged. Nothing needs retrying: the post is live. To tag the Page in future posts, update or replace the custom mention (see Mention accounts with custom mentions). If the post also had a failed first comment, Retry is still offered for the comment. This check currently covers Facebook Page text and photo posts. It does not cover Facebook video, GIF or Reel posts, and it does not check Facebook Groups.

An X (Twitter) or Bluesky thread went live but a reply didn't

If the first post of a thread is live but a reply failed, or was never tried because an earlier reply failed, Social Champ no longer marks the post Failed. It stays published and shows under Partially Published in Calendar. Above the post, one yellow note reads Your post is officially up! However, 1 reply couldn't be published. (or 2 replies). If the X first comment also failed, the same note reads However, 1 reply and the first comment couldn't be published. Click View on the note to open the live post. Social Champ also sends a Reply not posted notification and an email, Your post is live, but a reply couldn't be posted.

  1. Open the post from Calendar, the notification or the email's Fix and retry reply link.
  2. In the post preview, each reply that wasn't posted is outlined in red with its name, text and a short reason, for example This reply couldn't be posted. X allows 280 characters for this account. or This reply wasn't posted because an earlier reply failed. Click Retry on one of them.
  3. The Start Thread dialog opens, the same one you use to create a thread. Your main post and the replies that are already live are greyed out and can't be edited. Every reply that wasn't posted is editable with the composer's tools: emoji, media upload, AI Improve, Ask Switch, mentions, link preview and, on X, polls. There is no Add another post or Delete all threads here, and location isn't available per reply.
  4. Edit the replies. The counter shows your limit: 280 characters on X (25,000 for verified X accounts) and 300 on Bluesky. On X, a reply can have up to 4 images, 1 GIF or 1 video, never images with a video. On Bluesky, a reply can have up to 4 images (no GIFs), each 1 MB or smaller, or 1 video. Only media uploaded in Social Champ is accepted.
  5. Click Done. Your edits are saved and all the missing replies are sent in one retry. The card shows Retrying the reply. It will show here once it's posted.

Only the missing replies are posted, in order, under the live post. Replies that are already live are never posted again or editable. Reschedule, Retry and Retry Now aren't offered on these posts, because they would republish the whole thread. Only one retry runs at a time; a second attempt shows This reply is already being retried. Check back in a few minutes. If a reply fails again, Social Champ stops there and saves the new reason. The post stays Partially Published, your edits stay saved and you are notified again. The account owner, or a team member who can manage that profile or who created the post, can retry. If the post needed approval, a team member who doesn't manage the profile can retry, but the replies go out as they were approved and any changes aren't used; Social Champ tells you so. The account owner or a team member who manages the profile can edit them. The option isn't offered on a shared read-only calendar. An X first comment on a thread waits until the thread is complete, then posts under the last reply.
