Create rules that label posts when their content, platform or media matches your conditions.

Before you start

Create the post labels first and select the intended workspace. Rule controls depend on your role and plan.

Open the feature

Open the composer’s post-label controls, choose Manage, then Label posts automatically to open Automated labeling.

Steps

  1. Choose New rule and enter a Rule name.
  2. Under Apply when, choose whether All or Any conditions must match.
  3. Choose a condition: Post contains hashtags, Caption contains keywords, Platform is or Media type is.
  4. Enter the words or choose the values for that condition. Use Add condition if needed.
  5. Under Apply these labels, choose the labels to add and save the rule.
  6. Check the automatically suggested labels when preparing a matching post.

Expected result

Matching new posting actions receive the rule’s labels. Existing labels remain when you disable or delete a rule.

Example

Create a rule that adds your Summer Sale label when the caption contains your campaign hashtag.

Limits and permissions

Deleting a label also deletes any automated-label rule that has no other labels. Review the warning before confirming.

  • A rule needs at least one condition and an existing label.
  • These are post labels, separate from conversation labels in Engage.
  • Deleting a rule stops future automatic labeling; it does not remove labels already on posts.

Troubleshooting

  • No labels are available: return to Manage labels and create one.
  • The expected label is absent: check the condition values and whether the rule uses All or Any.
  • Controls are unavailable: ask your workspace admin to check access.
