Create a post template
On this page
Save post content you reuse often, like a weekly promo, as a template. Using a template starts a new post. It never publishes the template itself.
Before you start
- Check you're in the workspace where you want to use the template.
- Decide who should see it: just you, or everyone in the workspace.
Open the feature
Choose Publish in the left sidebar, then Post Templates.
Steps
- Click Create Post Template. The composer opens.
- Select the accounts you usually post to, then write your post and add any images or video.
- Click Create Post Template. The Save as Template window opens.
- Type a name under Title.
- Under Visibility, choose Only me or Team.
- Click Save.
- To use the template, find it in Post Templates and click Use Template. A new post opens in the composer with the template's content and accounts.
- Change anything you need, choose a time under When to post and click the button at the bottom right.
Duplicate a template
- In Post Templates, open the three-dot menu at the end of the template's row.
- Choose Duplicate Template. A copy appears in the list.
Delete one or several templates
- To delete one template, open the three-dot menu on its row and choose Delete Template. Click Yes to confirm. If you change your mind, click Undo in the Post template deleted message to bring it back.
- To delete several, tick the box at the start of each row. To pick all of your templates at once, tick the box in the header.
- Click Delete Selected, which appears above the list in place of the Content heading. Click Yes to confirm.
Change sharing from the list
Find your own item in the list and use its sharing control to choose Only Me or Team Sharing. Check the saved sharing state before assuming teammates can use it. Use Filter By to narrow the list, and clear filters when an expected item is missing. You cannot change another person's sharing setting.
Expected result
The template appears in Post Templates under its name. Each time you click Use Template, you get a new post. The template stays the same.
A duplicated template appears as a new row with the same content and accounts. A deleted template disappears from the list.
Example
You post a "Weekend Special" to Facebook and Instagram every Friday. Click Create Post Template, select both accounts, write the post and add a photo (Instagram needs one). Click Create Post Template, type "Weekend Special" under Title, choose Team and click Save. Each Friday, click Use Template, update the dish and price, choose Schedule, pick a time and click Schedule.
Limits and permissions
- Template names can be up to 120 characters.
- Only me templates are visible only to you. Team templates are visible to everyone in the workspace.
- Only the person who created a template can change its sharing or delete it. You can only tick your own templates for Delete Selected.
- You can also save a post you're writing as a template. Open the arrow next to the submit button in the composer and choose Save as Template.
Troubleshooting
- A template is missing: check you're in the right workspace. A teammate's template only shows if they set it to Team.
- Save is greyed out: type a name under Title.
- You can't tick a template or there's no Delete Template option: a teammate created it. Ask them to delete it.
- You need to change a template: open the three-dot menu on its row and choose Edit Template. Changes you make after Use Template only affect that one post.
