Get a notification before a draft's planned time, so you remember to finish and schedule it. A reminder never publishes the draft.

Before you start

  • Save your post as a draft first. See Save and reopen a draft.
  • Pick the date and time you plan to post it. The reminder is set relative to that time.

Open the feature

Choose Publish in the left sidebar, then Draft. Find your draft in Drafts and click the three-dot menu at the end of its row.

Steps

  1. Choose Add reminder. The Schedule Time window opens.
  2. Click the date and pick the date and time you plan to post.
  3. Turn on Remind me.
  4. Type a number and choose Minutes before, Hours before or Days before. The exact time shows under Reminder:.
  5. Click Schedule Draft.
  6. To change the reminder later, open the three-dot menu, choose Edit reminder, make your changes and click Schedule Draft.
  7. To remove it, choose Edit reminder, turn off Remind me, click Remove and then Schedule Draft.

Expected result

A bell icon appears next to the draft's Schedule Date in Drafts. Hover over it to see when the reminder goes off. You get a notification at that time. The draft stays a draft until you schedule it as a finished post.

Example

Your campaign post needs sign-off at Thursday's meeting and should go out Friday at 10:00 AM. Open Publish > Draft, open the draft's three-dot menu and choose Add reminder. Set the date to Friday at 10:00 AM, turn on Remind me, type 1 and choose Days before. Reminder: shows Thursday at 10:00 AM. Click Schedule Draft.

Limits and permissions

  • A reminder can be up to 30 days before the draft's time.
  • The draft's time and the reminder time must both be in the future. If not, Schedule Draft stays greyed out.
  • You can also add a reminder while writing: open the arrow next to Save Draft in the composer and choose Scheduled Draft.
  • Post templates don't have reminders.

Troubleshooting

  • Schedule Draft is greyed out: read the red message in the window. Pick a later draft time or a shorter reminder.
  • You don't see Add reminder in the menu: draft reminders aren't available on your account yet.
  • The bell icon is gone: the reminder was removed or has already gone off. Choose Add reminder to set a new one.
