Create and schedule a post
On this page
Write one post, choose the social accounts it goes to, and pick when it publishes.
Before you start
- Connect at least one social account. If none are connected, the composer shows Connect a social account to post instead of a submit button.
- Check you're in the right workspace. Posts use the workspace's timezone.
Open the feature
Choose Publish in the left sidebar. The Publish Content composer opens.
Steps
- Open Select social account and tick the accounts to post to. The composer may already have accounts selected from your last visit; check them before you post. On accounts where the composer never preselects, see Reuse your last selection.
- Type your post in the text box (What's on your mind? Let the world know your story.).
- To add an image or video, choose Image or video in the toolbar below the text box. Under Upload, choose Browse From PC, select your file, then click Upload. Wait for uploading to finish and check the image or video appears in the preview. You can also pick a file from Media Library.
- Check the preview for each network.
- Under When to post, choose one of these options:
- Schedule: pick a date and time.
- Post Now: publishes as soon as you click the button.
- Auto-Queue Next: uses the first free slot in each account's queue.
- Auto-Queue Last: uses the last slot in each account's queue.
- AI Suggested Time: picks a time when your audience is most active.
- Click the button at the bottom right. Its label matches your choice: Schedule, Post Now, Auto-Queue Next or Auto-Queue Last. AI Suggested Time also uses Schedule.
Reuse your last selection
This applies only where Social Champ has turned on "never preselect" for the composer, on request, for a specific login and the workspaces it publishes in. Everywhere else the composer works as described in the steps above.
On those accounts the composer never selects accounts for you. A new post starts empty after you refresh the page, open a new tab or sign in, and again after each post is scheduled, published, sent for approval or saved as a draft. While you move around the app without posting, the accounts you picked stay selected.
When you schedule, publish or save a draft, those accounts are saved as your last selection for that workspace. Next time, click Use last selection (n) next to Quick Select, or in the No accounts selected. line under the account picker, to select them again in one click. You can then untick any account you don't want.
- Your last selection is personal. Other team members don't see it, and it follows you to other browsers and devices.
- Accounts that are now locked, need reconnecting or were removed from the workspace are skipped. If none are left, the option doesn't appear.
- Editing or duplicating a post, and opening a draft or template, still select that post's own accounts.
- Several people sharing one login share one last selection.
For named sets of accounts you use often, see Save account groups with Quick Select.
Choose a time using the scheduling controls
After choosing a scheduled post, use Optimize time where offered to review suggested times and select one. This control is hidden when profiles have separate scheduled times. In the date picker, use the per-day scheduled-post counts to compare your workload before choosing a date. Confirm the final time in the workspace timezone before saving.
AI scheduling suggestions use your account’s AI Wizard text allowance: one credit per platform requested, including regeneration. If the allowance is exhausted, Optimize time is dimmed with the reset date and the suggestions window says so; choose a time manually. See Choose AI suggested publishing times.
Expected result
The post appears in Calendar on its date, once for each account you selected. Post Now posts appear straight away. Each post shows as published once the network accepts it.
Example
To post Friday's opening hours to your Facebook Page and Instagram account at 9:00 AM, select both accounts, write the post and add a photo (Instagram needs one). Choose Schedule, pick Friday at 9:00 AM and click Schedule. Two posts appear in Calendar on Friday.
Limits and permissions
- The timezone comes from your workspace settings and can't be changed in the composer.
- The date and time you choose are interpreted in that workspace timezone, even if your browser or computer uses another timezone. Check the workspace timezone before scheduling across regions; Calendar also displays the scheduled time in the workspace timezone.
- To give each account its own time, use Customize date & time for each profile. See Set per-profile publishing times.
- You can select only one Pinterest board and one X account per post. This avoids duplicate posts going up on multiple accounts.
- You can't post to an account marked Locked. That happens when your plan's account limit is reached.
- If your workspace uses approvals, your post may need approval before it publishes. See Review and approve a post.
- The composer remembers your last When to post choice. Check it before you click.
Troubleshooting
An attachment whose media type is still unavailable does not interrupt the composer preview.
Files selected from Dropbox are added once to the post.
- An account is missing from the list: check you're in the right workspace. If the account needs reconnecting, see Reconnect a social account.
- No accounts are selected when the composer opens: on an account where the composer never preselects, this is expected. Click Use last selection or choose the accounts.
- The submit button is greyed out: check you've selected at least one account and added your post, then fix any highlighted field.
- The page timed out after you clicked: open Calendar before trying again. The post may already be scheduled, and a second click would create a duplicate.
- A post didn't publish: see Resolve a failed or incomplete post.
