Turn a campaign off to stop it sharing new posts. You can turn it back on at any time.

Before you start

  • Check you're in the right workspace.
  • Your team role needs the Manage Recycle permission.

Open the feature

Choose Publish in the left sidebar, then Recycle, then Campaign.

Steps

  1. Find the campaign. Use Search Campaign, or choose Active to see only running campaigns.
  2. On the campaign card, click the switch next to Campaign: Active (its tooltip reads Deactivate Campaign).
  3. Open Queue or Calendar and look for posts the campaign has already scheduled.
  4. Delete or edit any of those posts you don't want to go out.
  5. To restart the campaign later, click the same switch again (Activate Campaign).

Expected result

You see Your "campaign name" campaign is now inactive and the card shows Inactive. The campaign stops scheduling new posts. It moves to the Inactive filter, and its collection and settings are kept.

Example

You're running a product launch and want your Weekly tips campaign quiet for a week. Open Campaign, click the switch on the Weekly tips card, and check it shows Inactive. Open Queue, find the tip already scheduled for tomorrow and delete it. After the launch, click the switch again to restart the campaign.

Limits and permissions

  • Pausing doesn't remove posts the campaign already added to your Queue or Calendar. Delete those yourself if you don't want them to publish.
  • Posts that already went out stay published.
  • Saving changes to a paused campaign with Edit campaign turns it back on.
  • To remove a campaign for good, click Delete campaign on its card and choose Yes. This can't be undone.

Troubleshooting

  • You see "Add posts to this collection before you activate the campaign.": the campaign's collection is empty. Add posts to it, then turn the campaign on.
  • A campaign turned itself off: another campaign may have taken its collection. A collection can belong to only one campaign.
  • A new recycled post appears after pausing: it was scheduled before you paused. Delete it from Queue or Calendar.
