Configure automatic RSS scheduling
On this page
Choose which accounts an RSS feed posts to, how often it posts and what each post looks like.
Before you start
- Add the feed's link first. See Connect an RSS feed.
- Connect the social accounts you want the feed to post to.
- If your workspace requires a label on every post, have a label ready.
Open the feature
Choose Publish in the left sidebar, then Auto RSS. Click Add RSS Link for a new feed, or click the edit icon (Edit RSS Feed) on an existing one.
Steps
- Under Publish to:, open the account list and tick the accounts to post to. Add a label with the tag icon if you use labels.
- For a new feed, click Next to reach RSS Posts Formatting. When editing, scroll down instead.
- Under Post Frequency, choose Maximum (number of posts) in (number) Hours or Days. For example, 3 posts in 1 Days.
- Under Should the posts be selected:, choose Latest feed or In a sequence.
- Under When new posts are found in this feed:, choose Post immediately or Add to Queue (uses the next free slot in your queue).
- In Optimize RSS Post, edit the post text. Use RSS Field Option to choose what's pulled in: Title, Link or Description. Use the emoji and hashtag buttons if you like.
- Under Media and formatting, turn on the options you want:
- Use images (if available)
- Trim text to each platform's limit
- Add article link in the first comment
- Customize RSS links for each account (shown when you pick more than one account)
- Check the Preview, then click Add RSS (or Save RSS when editing).
Advanced options and stopping a feed
Open Advanced Settings to review additional formatting. Use videos (if available) controls whether feed videos are used, and Remove default share-link format controls that formatting option. Where repeat is supported, enable I want to repeat my post, then set the count and interval before saving.
In the feed list, turn a feed off to stop future automatic processing, or use its delete action and review the confirmation to remove it. Check Calendar separately for posts that were already created; do not assume stopping or deleting a feed cancels existing posts.
Expected result
The feed appears in Auto RSS with its status turned on. When the feed publishes new articles, posts are created for your chosen accounts and show in Queue and Calendar with an RSS tag. The feed card shows when it last published and how many posts it has published.
Example
To share your blog three times a day on Facebook and LinkedIn, open Auto RSS and click the edit icon on your blog feed. Under Publish to:, tick your Facebook Page and LinkedIn Page. Set Post Frequency to Maximum 3 posts in 1 Days, choose Latest feed and Add to Queue, and turn on Use images (if available). Click Save RSS. New articles go into the next free queue slots.
Limits and permissions
- Saving changes turns the feed on, even if it was off. Use the toggle on the feed card afterwards if you want it off.
- Post Frequency goes up to 24 Hours or 30 Days. The highest post count depends on your plan.
- Add to Queue turns off the frequency settings and needs a queue. See Add a post to a queue.
- Only a limited number of RSS posts can be scheduled per account at a time. Choose Add to Queue to see your limit.
- YouTube accounts can't be used with Auto RSS.
- Turning a feed off stops new posts. Posts already scheduled stay in Queue and Calendar.
- If the feed gives its articles dates in the future, such as a job's closing date, Latest feed and In a sequence normally use where each article appears in the feed instead of its date. See Connect an RSS feed.
Troubleshooting
- You see "Select at least one social account to continue.": tick at least one account under Publish to:.
- You see "This workspace requires a label on every post.": add a label next to the account list, then save.
- The feed card says Paused: the feed failed several times. Click the edit icon and save, or turn the feed back on with the toggle.
- The feed card says Retrying: Social Champ couldn't reach the feed. It keeps trying. If the message says the feed returned no posts or isn't valid RSS, open the link in your browser to check it.
- Editing a feed shows "This feed's items don't include a publish date": Auto RSS uses each item's publish date to find new articles, so this feed can't post. Replace its link with a feed that includes publish dates.
- The post looks different from the preview: open the scheduled post in Calendar and edit it there.
