Inspect post history in Calendar
On this page
See who created, changed, approved or deleted a post, and when.
Before you start
- Check you're in the right workspace.
- Know roughly when the post was scheduled, so you can find it on the calendar.
Open the feature
Choose Calendar in the left sidebar. Find the post in Month or Week view and click it. The Post panel opens on the right.
A link to a post from the assistant's post cards, or from a notification that a post needs posting by hand, opens the same Post panel on that post's day. A failed post opens in the failed-post view instead.
Steps
- Scroll to the bottom of the post in the Post panel.
- If you see Post History:, click it to expand it. It lists:
- Created by: who created the post, and when.
- Approved by: or Declined by: who reviewed it, and when.
- Modified by: who last changed it, and when.
- Deleted by: who deleted it, and when.
- If the post went through an approval workflow, you see Post history: with the approvers' pictures instead. Click the eye icon (View post history).
- In the Post History window, check Post created and each stage under Approval stages. Each stage shows its status, who reviewed it, when, and any comment.
Expected result
You can see who worked on the post and when. If a post failed, the reason appears on the post itself.
Example
A client asks who changed the caption on Friday's Instagram post. Open Calendar, click the post and expand Post History: at the bottom. Modified by: shows your teammate's name and the time of the change.
Limits and permissions
- Post History: shows the last person who changed the post, not every change.
- Drafts don't show Post History:.
- Posts published directly on the network show Posted via: and the network's name instead of a person.
- If a post was deleted on the network, you see Deleted via: and the network's name.
Troubleshooting
- There's no history section on the post: it's a draft, or it has no recorded activity yet.
- The Post History window keeps showing "Loading post history": close it and click the eye icon again.
- You can't find the post: clear your Filters, check the date range, and make sure you're in the right workspace.
- The post failed: see Resolve a failed or incomplete post.
