Create a Recycle collection
On this page
A collection is a library of evergreen posts you want to share again. Nothing in it is scheduled until a Recycle campaign uses it.
Before you start
- Check you're in the right workspace.
- Recycle must be included in your plan, and your team role needs the Manage Recycle permission.
Open the feature
Choose Publish in the left sidebar, then Recycle, then Collection.
Steps
- Click Create New Collection.
- Type a name (up to 30 characters) and click Create.
- Click Add Post (or Add First Post in an empty collection). The composer opens on Original Post.
- Write your post and add any image or video.
- To add another wording of the same post, click Add Variation. You can add up to three variations. Removing a variation keeps the text and media in the remaining variations. Their labels renumber to match their order.
- Click Add to Collection.
- To add posts in bulk instead, use Import Posts to pick posts you've already published or scheduled, or Bulk Upload to add posts from a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file.
Give each network its own version
- In the composer, turn on Customize by network.
- Click a network's icon next to Main post. Its version starts as a copy of your main post.
- Change the caption, media or options for that network. Networks you don't change use Main post.
- Click Add to Collection (or Save when you're editing a post).
Rename, shuffle or delete a collection
- Select the collection in the list on the left.
- To rename it, open the three-dot menu above its posts and choose Rename Collection. Type the new name and click Rename.
- To put its posts in a random order, open the three-dot menu, choose Shuffle Collection and click Shuffle Collection again to confirm.
- To delete it, hover over the collection in the list on the left and click the trash icon (Delete). Click Yes to confirm.
Add posts from the composer or a CSV
In the composer, open the submit button's menu and choose Save to Collection. Select the destination collection and confirm the copy. Adding a post to a collection does not itself create a campaign schedule.
For several posts, use the collection's bulk-upload entry and its CSV template. Upload the file as CSV or Excel (.xlsx); for a workbook with several sheets, choose the sheet to import. Then review the parsed posts and errors, and complete the import only for the intended collection. Use Search and Sort By in the collection to find the resulting posts.
Retire a post after a publish count
When the collection post editor offers Retire after, enable it and enter a publish count from 1 to 1,000 before saving. Reopen the post to confirm the setting. Its collection card shows the publish count and retirement state. A retired post remains in the collection and counts toward its post limit; check its state before expecting it to be selected again.
Expected result
Your collection appears in the list on the left, with the number of posts next to its name. Each post shows as a card you can Edit, Move to another collection, Label or Delete.
After Shuffle Collection you see All posts have been shuffled successfully and the posts show in their new order. A deleted collection disappears from the list.
Example
To build a library of evergreen tips, click Create New Collection, name it Evergreen tips and click Create. Click Add First Post, write your first tip and add a photo, so it can also go to Instagram. Click Add Variation twice and write two other wordings of the tip. Click Add to Collection. The collection now shows one post with two variations, ready for a campaign.
Limits and permissions
- Your plan sets how many collections and collection posts you can have.
- If a campaign will post to Instagram or Pinterest, add an image to each post. Posts with media a network doesn't support won't publish there.
- Import Posts copies the text and media of the posts you pick. The original posts aren't changed. Posts already in the collection are skipped.
- Export CSV gives you a basic list of each post's text and media. It doesn't include variations.
- Empty Collection removes every post from the collection. It appears only when the collection has at least two posts.
- Shuffle Collection resets the posting cycle of any campaign that uses the collection, so a post may repeat sooner than expected.
- Deleting a collection permanently deletes all of its posts and removes it from any campaign that uses it.
- If you turn Customize by network off before you save, your network versions aren't saved with the post.
- An Instagram Reel saved with Trial reel on is published as a trial reel every time it recycles. Turn Trial reel off on the post to publish it as a regular Reel.
Troubleshooting
- Add Variation is greyed out: write the Original Post first.
- An imported post is missing: it may already be in the collection, or it had no text to copy.
- Shuffle Collection or Export CSV is missing from the menu: add at least one post to the collection first.
- A network still uses the main post: check Customize by network is on and that you changed that network's version.
- You can't find a collection: use Search above the list, or check you're in the right workspace.
Why a post may remain active at its retirement count
The last active post in a collection is kept active so the collection does not become entirely retired. Add another active post before expecting that final post to retire. The count advances once per successful recycle cycle, not once per selected social account; completely failed or skipped cycles do not advance it. Retired posts are excluded from the next-post selection. A saved retirement setting is not proof that a worker has completed a qualifying cycle.
