Move a connected social account from one workspace to another by adding it to the new workspace.

Before you start

  • You need to be the account owner, or an Admin in the destination workspace.
  • Moving an account deletes some of its data in the old workspace. Check the list under Limits and permissions first.

Open the feature

Choose Settings > Workspace > Workspaces. Find the workspace you want to move the account to and click Edit Workspace (the pencil icon).

You can also open the workspace switcher at the top of the left sidebar and click Workspace settings (the gear icon) next to that workspace.

Steps

  1. Under Select social account(s), open Select an account. The Workspace column shows where each account is now.
  2. Tick the account you want to move. A red warning icon appears next to it.
  3. To see what will change, click the warning icon or See more in the note below the list, then click Okay.
  4. Click Save Workspace. If you opened the settings from the workspace switcher, click Save and Refresh.

Expected result

The account now belongs to the workspace you edited. It's in that workspace's Select social account list in the composer and no longer appears in the old workspace.

Example

Your Instagram account is in Marketing, but your new Social Media workspace should own it. Open Settings > Workspace > Workspaces and click Edit Workspace on Social Media. Open Select an account, tick the Instagram account (its Workspace column says Marketing), read the warning and click Okay. Click Save Workspace.

Limits and permissions

  • An account can only be in one workspace at a time.
  • Moving an account permanently deletes this from the old workspace:
    • its saved drafts
    • its Auto-RSS feeds
    • its place in campaigns
    • the old workspace's teammates' ability to post to it
    • associated post labels
  • You can't untick an account that's already in the workspace you're editing. To move it, edit the other workspace and add it there. To remove it from Social Champ, delete it on Manage Accounts.
  • Accounts marked as locked can't be selected.

Troubleshooting

  • You can't untick an account: it already belongs to this workspace. Edit the workspace you want to move it to instead.
  • The account doesn't appear after saving: use the workspace switcher to open the workspace you moved it to.
  • A teammate lost access to the account: they were only in the old workspace. Edit their access in the new one. See Manage teammate permissions.
  • You see "Oh no! You can't edit because your workspace is disabled.": the workspace is locked on your plan. Upgrade to edit it.
