Create images with AI and add them to the post you're writing.

Before you start

  • Open the composer and select the accounts you're posting to, so you can check the image in each preview.
  • Each request uses one prompt. The wizard's sidebar shows how many you have left under Prompts remaining.
  • Each image the wizard creates also uses one AI image credit, the same credits AI Imaginator uses.

Open the feature

Choose Publish in the left sidebar to open the composer. Click the AI Tools button in the toolbar and choose AI Content Wizard. You can also open the wizard with Get Suggestions or Improve below the text box.

Steps

  1. Ask the wizard for your post text, for example "Write a post about our summer sale".
  2. Under the reply, click Generate Image. The wizard creates images to go with that text.
  3. Click the view icon on an image to see it larger. Click the images you want to use to select them.
  4. Click Apply Selections. A new reply appears with the post text and your selected images.
  5. Click Send to Composer.
  6. Check each network's preview in the composer, then schedule or publish as usual.

Open the image generator from Add Media

In the composer, open Add Media and choose AI Imaginator. Generate and review the image, then add it to the post. Inspect the account preview and media requirements before scheduling.

In the designer, open Photos > More sources and choose AI Imaginator. The image you pick is added to your design instead of the post. Each image uses AI image credits as it does in the composer; if you close the designer while an image is being generated, the generation may still finish and use a credit.

Expected result

The wizard closes, and the selected images are uploaded and attached to your post along with the text. Nothing is posted until you schedule or publish it.

Example

You're announcing a summer sale on Instagram, which needs an image. Open Publish, select your Instagram account and click Get Suggestions. Choose Write about a custom topic, finish the sentence with "our summer sale, 20% off all sandals" and send it. Click Generate Image, select the image you like, click Apply Selections, then Send to Composer. Check the Instagram preview, choose Schedule under When to post, pick a time and click Schedule.

Limits and permissions

  • How many prompts and AI image credits you get depends on your plan. With your own OpenAI key connected through Connect GPT Pro, requests don't use your prompts, but images still use your AI image credits: they aren't made with your OpenAI key.
  • Click Generate More Images for more options. Each request uses a prompt.
  • Want an image without writing text first? Use AI Tools > AI Imaginator: describe the image under Describe what you want to see?, pick a Style (Generic, Photo, Digital Art, Painting or 3D), click Generate, then click Use this image. Descriptions can be fewer than 200 words (199 maximum in the form). Each image AI Imaginator returns uses one AI image credit. A request makes up to 5 images, or as many as you have credits left; an image that couldn't be generated doesn't use one.
  • Check AI images for mistakes, and make sure they suit your brand before you post.
  • Tone in the message box is for post text. It isn't an image style setting, so don't rely on it to change how images look.

One image request uses one prompt, however many images it returns. The prompt is used even if none of the images could be generated. Each image you get uses one AI image credit; an image that couldn't be generated doesn't. If you have fewer credits left than the wizard planned images, it makes only as many as you have credits for. In that case the reply shows We hit a snag! with a Retry button, and a Retry is a new request that uses another prompt. Applying images you already generated uses none, so you can still apply your selection after your prompts run out.

Troubleshooting

  • Generate Image isn't shown: ask for post text first. The option appears under the wizard's reply.
  • Apply Selections is greyed out: select at least one image.
  • You see "Another image request is still being generated": images for your account are made one request at a time. Wait for the other request (in another tab, or from a teammate on the same account) to finish, then try again.
  • You see "We hit a snag!": click Retry. Your post isn't changed until you click Send to Composer.
  • The image didn't appear in the composer: check the attachments under the text box. If it's missing, open the wizard again and pick the chat from the history on the left to send it again.
  • You're out of prompts: on a plan with a monthly allowance they renew on their own when the period ends, or you can upgrade your plan. Some lifetime and older plans include a one-time image allowance that doesn't renew.
  • You get the image ideas as text instead of images: you're out of AI image credits, or your plan doesn't include them. The reply says the image limit was reached and lists the image ideas. Monthly credits renew on their own when the period ends, or you can upgrade your plan.
