Create a designed post or carousel with the assistant
On this page
The assistant returns an editable or downloadable visual when the requested generation succeeds. A generated card is not a published post.
Before you start
Choose the intended workspace and brand profile, and check your AI allowance.
Open the feature
Open the assistant and start a conversation.
Steps
- Ask for a designed post or carousel. Include the audience, network, message, visual style and desired slide count.
- Review the returned design, text, images and slide order. Ask for corrections where needed.
- Use Edit in Canva where offered if you want to edit the design there; complete the Canva connection when requested.
- Use Download to save the visual or the card’s composer action to continue preparing the post.
- In the composer, check media, caption and accounts before scheduling.
Expected result
Example
Request a three-slide educational carousel and correct the text before sending it to the composer.
Limits and permissions
Carousel cards offer Download all and a per-slide download in the lightbox. A carousel can have 1–12 slides; designed single posts use Download.
- Available card actions depend on the generated format.
- Generation and regeneration consume applicable AI usage.
- Review factual claims, text legibility and the final media before publishing.
- A designed post comes in one of two styles. In the standard style, the headline and text sit on top of the picture as a separate layer, so you can still edit them, for example in Canva. In the fully designed style, the text is drawn into the image itself and can't be edited separately; ask the assistant for a new version to change the wording, or ask for an editable version.
- If the fully designed style can't produce correct text, the assistant returns the standard style instead. If there isn't enough time left for that, you see an error instead and your image allowance isn't used, so you can try again.
Troubleshooting
- Generation fails: review the error and allowance before trying again.
- A designed post takes too long: a designed post either arrives within about three minutes or shows an error. A failed generation does not use your image allowance, so you can try again.
- A Canva edit is not reflected: finish the Canva return flow and inspect the updated preview before downloading or sending.
