Use assistant keyboard shortcuts and the command palette
On this page
The chosen panel, shortcut reference or command palette opens without navigating through the sidebar.
Before you start
Sign in to the app with assistant access.
Open the feature
Use the keyboard shortcuts while the app is focused.
Steps
- Press Ctrl+J on Windows or ⌘J on macOS to open or close the assistant side panel.
- Press Ctrl+K or ⌘K to open the command palette. Search and choose the action you need.
- Press ? outside a text input to open the shortcut reference. Its assistant group and side-panel action use your configured assistant name. If the name is still loading, the labels update when it arrives, without closing the dialog.
- Press Esc to close the active dialog or panel.
Expected result
The chosen panel, shortcut reference or command palette opens without navigating through the sidebar.
Example
Open the command palette to find an action while reviewing Calendar.
Limits and permissions
- Browser and operating-system shortcuts can take precedence.
- Typing inside an input can suppress global shortcuts.
Troubleshooting
- A shortcut does nothing: focus the app outside the text input and try the visible palette or assistant button.
