Check the sentiment of a post
On this page
See whether a post reads as positive, negative, neutral or mixed before you publish it, and adjust it with AI without leaving the check.
Before you start
- Write the post text in the composer first. The check runs on the text, not on images or video.
- Pick the language the post is written in. Sentiment analysis is offered for English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic and Chinese (simplified).
- Improve with AI, Shorten and Expand each use one AI text generation from your plan's allowance. Analyzing sentiment does not.
Open the feature
- Open the composer and write your post.
- In the composer tools, select the sentiment analysis icon (tooltip Analyze sentiment).
The Sentiment analysis window opens with your post text in an editable box.
Steps
- Check the language selector next to the text box and change it if your post is not in English.
- Edit the text in the box if you want. The box grows as you type and scrolls once the text gets long.
- Select Analyze sentiment.
- Read the result: a chart and four scores for Positive, Negative, Neutral and Mixed.
- To change the post with AI, use one of these, then select Analyze sentiment again:
- Improve with AI, then pick a direction such as Make it more positive.
- Shorten to make the post shorter.
- Expand to add more detail.
- When you are happy with the text, select Send content to composer.
Expected result
- The AI result replaces the text in the box. Nothing reaches your post until you select Send content to composer.
- Editing the text, or changing the language, clears the old score so you never see a score for different text.
- Download PDF saves the post and its score as a PDF.
Example
A bakery's post reads "New sourdough is out. It sold out by noon yesterday, sorry if you missed it." The check scores it mostly neutral with some negative. The user selects Improve with AI then Make it more positive, analyzes again, and sends the new version to the composer.
Limits and permissions
- Improve with AI, Shorten and Expand work on posts up to about 360 words or 3,600 characters, whichever comes first. In Chinese and Japanese, each character counts as a word. Above that, the buttons are disabled and their tooltip says how far to shorten the post.
- Sentiment analysis reads a limited amount of text. For a very long post, the result says: "This caption is longer than sentiment analysis supports. The score below covers the beginning of it." The limit depends on the characters used, so posts with many emojis or written in non-Latin scripts reach it sooner.
- Sentiment checks are limited to 30 a minute per account.
Troubleshooting
- "You're checking sentiment a little too fast." Wait a minute, then analyze again.
- "The AI reply was cut off before the end of your post." The result was incomplete, so your text was left unchanged. The attempt still counts as one AI generation. Try again, or shorten the post first.
- "We couldn't analyze sentiment." Check the language selector matches the post's language, then try again. Dutch is listed in the selector but cannot be analyzed yet.
- Improve with AI, Shorten and Expand are greyed out. The post is too long for AI changes. Shorten it by hand, then try again.
