Review and control autonomy
On this page
Use the Autonomy control center to review work your assistant is waiting to do, choose how much it can do for each task, pause autonomous work, and inspect its action log.
Before you start
- Open this feature in a workspace where assistant autonomy is available.
- Anyone in the workspace can view the queue, action log and trust metrics. Only workspace administrators can approve or reject queued work, change task levels, or pause and resume autonomy.
- Your plan and the social platform can limit the effective autonomy level, even when the workspace setting is higher.
Open the feature
Open the assistant’s Brand profile panel and choose Approvals & autonomy or go to /coach/approvals. Select Action log to open the read-only history at /coach/approvals/ledger.
Steps
Review queued work
- Under Queued actions, read the task type, platform (when shown), summary and reasoning.
- Select Approve to let the assistant continue with the proposed action, or Reject to stop it.
- For an Inbox FAQ replies task, choose Edit reply to review the full reply, make your changes, then select Approve edited reply. Select Cancel to discard your edit.
- If a decision fails, read the message shown on that row and refresh the queue before trying again. The queue refresh button reloads the current list.
Only FAQ replies can be edited in this queue. Other queued task types offer approve or reject.
Set how much the assistant can do
Under Autonomy levels, choose a level for each task type:
- Draft only prepares work without acting.
- Ask approval prepares work and waits in the queue for an administrator's decision.
- Auto within limits lets the assistant act within plan and platform limits, then report back.
The available task types are Inbox FAQ replies, Weekly plan slots, Onboarding calendar and Boost proposals. The control center saves a changed level. A task can still appear in the queue if plan or platform rules cap its effective level below the selected setting.
Pause autonomous work
Use the autonomy control to change the state from Active to Paused. While paused, every task's effective level is Draft only, but the saved level for each task stays unchanged. Pausing also cancels queued actions, moves approved in-flight actions to Escalated, and pauses live ad campaigns for connected ad accounts. Check the result for campaigns that could not be paused. Turn the control back to Active to restore the saved task levels. Review those levels before resuming because tasks set to Auto within limits can act again. Ad campaigns and cancelled actions do not resume automatically.
Inspect the action log
Choose Action log to review actions newest first. Filter by task, status, autonomy level or approver; use Clear to remove filters and Load more to continue through older results. The log is read-only. It records the supported autonomy task types, plus autonomy pause/resume changes. It does not record every action elsewhere in the product, such as editing a post, calendar note, label or Listening alert.
The trust panel summarizes approval, edit and rejection rates for decided actions. A small or empty sample may not provide a useful rate yet.
Expected result
The queue reflects work waiting for an administrator. Decisions update the queue and are recorded in the action log. Each task-level control shows the selected workspace setting; plan and platform guardrails can keep a task at a lower effective level. When autonomy is paused, tasks are held at Draft only until you resume it.
Example
A workspace administrator wants the assistant to prepare weekly calendar slots but wait before preparing FAQ replies. Set Weekly plan slots to Auto within limits and Inbox FAQ replies to Ask approval. FAQ replies that need review appear under Queued actions, where the administrator can approve, edit and approve, or reject them.
Limits and permissions
An administrator can undo an automatically sent FAQ reply within 60 seconds. Background weekly plans, onboarding calendars and boost proposals also depend on their service switches and any configured pilot workspace restriction.
- Workspace members can read the queue, log and trust panel; only workspace administrators can approve/reject actions, edit task levels, or pause/resume autonomy.
- Auto within limits remains subject to plan, platform and safety limits.
- Pausing autonomy temporarily holds every supported task at Draft only without changing its saved level. It cancels queued actions, escalates approved in-flight actions, and pauses live ad campaigns on connected ad accounts. Check the result for campaigns that could not be paused. Resuming restores saved task levels, but does not restart campaigns or restore cancelled actions. Review task levels and campaigns before resuming.
- Editing an approval is currently supported for Inbox FAQ replies only.
- The action log covers the listed autonomy task types; it is not a complete history of every assistant action.
Troubleshooting
- I can see controls but cannot change them. Ask a workspace administrator to make the change. The server enforces this permission.
- A task still waits for approval on Auto. Its effective level may be capped by your plan or platform rules. Check the cap reason in the Action log.
- The queue is empty. Your assistant may not have any work waiting. Refresh the queue, or review task levels on the Overview tab.
- The action log says autonomy is unavailable. Autonomy may not be enabled for the service. Contact your workspace administrator.
