See how one social account is performing: audience, engagement, impressions and your top posts for the dates you pick.

Before you start

  • Connect at least one social account. If none are connected, the page shows Connect your social accounts to unlock analytics.
  • Check you're in the right workspace. You only see accounts from the workspace you have open.

Open the feature

Choose Analytics in the left sidebar. The Analytics Overview page opens.

Steps

  1. Open the account picker (Select social accounts) and choose the account you want to review. This page shows one account at a time.
  2. Open the date picker and choose a range, such as Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days or Last 6 Months. To pick your own dates, choose Custom Range, select the dates and click Apply.
  3. To compare with an earlier period, turn on Compare dates in the date picker. Under Compare to, choose Previous period or Custom.
  4. Review the metric cards at the top. To change which cards and charts show, click Customize. The panel lists one row for each metric this account's network reports, with the same names as the page (for a Facebook Page, for example, Visits and Audience Growth). Engagement and Demographics expand into their breakdowns, such as reactions or Audience by Age. Untick a breakdown to remove it from that section's table and chart. Click Done to apply your choices, or Reset to start again from the default.
  5. Review Metrics over time under the cards. It draws up to 6 metrics on one timeline so you can see whether they moved together. Click Choose metrics to add or remove one; your choice is saved for this account. Click a metric's chip above the chart to hide or show its line. Relative draws each line against its own best day; Actual values plots real numbers on one axis. Hover the chart to see each metric's real value for that day.
  6. Scroll down to the charts, which are grouped into sections such as Audience, Reach and views, Engagement, Video and Demographics. A network that no longer reports Reach, such as a Facebook Page, shows Views instead of Reach and views. To jump to a section, click its name under Overview in the left sidebar.
  7. Under Post Overview, review your posts. Use Sort By to rank them by a metric, switch between Top-performing posts and Low-performing posts, and click Show More to load more.
  8. To download your posts' results, click Export CSV in Post Overview.

Use Social Champ post performance

Open the Social Champ Post Performance list where available to inspect results for individual posts. Use its Export CSV action for the selected results. For Instagram, the CSV ends with a Trial Reel column that reads Yes for posts published as trial reels. Open a post's available actions to inspect or reuse it, and review any resulting composer before scheduling a new copy.

Expected result

The cards, charts and Post Overview update for the account and dates you picked. With Compare dates on, the picker shows both ranges joined by vs, and the cards show the change between them.

Your Customize choices also carry into exports, scheduled reports and shared links made from this page: an unticked breakdown is left out there too. When you come back to the page in the same workspace, it reopens with your last setup. To go back to the default view, open Customize and click Reset.

Example

To see how your Instagram account did last month, choose it in Select social accounts. Open the date picker, choose Last 30 Days, turn on Compare dates and leave Compare to on Previous period. Check the engagement card for the change, then sort Post Overview by engagement to find your best post.

Limits and permissions

  • Each network reports different metrics, so the cards, charts, sections and the metrics you can choose in Metrics over time change with the account you pick.

  • Metrics over time shows at most 6 metrics, and only counts: rates such as Engagement rate stay in their own chart. At the limit, remove one before adding another. Hiding a chip only lasts for your session; the metric choice itself is saved.

  • The section list in the sidebar shows on wider screens. Below 1200px the sidebar folds to icons; open it again to use the list.

  • YouTube accounts can't use Last 6 Months or Last One Year, and their data can't be exported.

  • Ranges longer than your plan's history aren't applied. For example, on a plan with 90 days of history, choosing Last One Year keeps your current dates and shows Unlock Post Analytics with an option to upgrade.

  • Google Business Profile no longer reports top posts. Older posts may still appear.

  • Post times on post cards use your workspace's time zone, not your browser's.

  • Pinterest only reports a Pin's saves for the last 90 days, so Saves on an older Pin can be lower than its lifetime total.

  • Facebook Pages have no Reach card or chart, because Meta retired that metric in June 2026.

  • Re-sync Data in the page menu refreshes your numbers. It isn't available on the Free Plan.

  • Your plan sets how far back analytics goes. If you pick dates older than that, the report starts at the earliest day your plan includes, and comparisons are limited the same way. When the period before your dates is older than that, the cards show no change (0%) rather than a change against part of a period.

  • To try the page with sample numbers, turn on Demo View in the page menu.

  • Pinterest account totals can appear through several boards. Selecting boards from the same account counts those account metrics once. If older board data cannot be matched to its account, refresh analytics or ask Support to check the missing history before combining those boards.

Troubleshooting

  • You see "Hang On!": your data is still being fetched. Check back in a little while.
  • A card says "No previous period yet": there is no earlier data to compare with, so no change is shown.
  • Metrics over time says "Nothing to compare yet": none of the chosen metrics has activity in this date range yet.
  • The account shows a reconnect message: reconnect it, then reopen Analytics. See Reconnect a social account.
  • You see "Syncing data": wait for the sync to finish before reading the numbers.
  • A metric is missing: that network doesn't report it for this account type. Try Customize to see which metrics are available.

Assistant behavior

When top-post results use a limited recent sample, the assistant labels the result as top posts among that recent sample. It does not claim those posts are the best across the entire selected date window. Use a narrower date window for a complete ranking.

When you ask the assistant for top posts without dates, it covers the last 30 days, today included, in your workspace's time zone. Each post is listed and counted once, and dates show in your workspace's time zone.

Work with the report controls

Select the profile before interpreting a chart: Overview is a single-profile report, while Cross Platform Analytics combines selected profiles. The date picker controls the primary range. Previous period compares with the preceding period; Custom lets you choose the comparison dates. Check both displayed ranges after applying them. Clearing the main picker resets it to the default Last 7 Days range rather than selecting every available date. Date availability depends on the account and network.

Customize changes which supported metrics are displayed; it does not make an unsupported metric available. Scroll through the supported graph sections for audience, followers, engagement, impressions, engagement rate, reach, viewers and the network-specific measures. Best time to post and Demographics appear only when supported data is returned. Inspect the chart's tooltip for the metric and date before interpreting a change.

In Post Overview, combine the ranking metric with Top-performing or Low-performing posts, inspect the individual post, and use Show More for additional results. A post result and an account-level period total need not represent the same measurement. Check the post's available metrics before comparing networks.

Refresh, sample mode and exports

Re-sync Data requests a refresh; wait for the syncing state to finish. It does not reconnect an expired authorization. Demo View replaces the report with sample values and locks the profile picker, including chip removal. Turn it off to change the real profile selection. A loading or provider error is different from a completed report with no activity.

Choose Export for a document/presentation, Export CSV for the post table, Scheduled Report for recurring delivery, or the sharing control for a public report where offered. These are separate actions. Check profile, dates, selected metrics and any active comparison before starting each one.

Turn your numbers into a post

Click Design with this at the top of the page to open the post composer's designer with the numbers you're looking at. Its Data tab lists them (impressions, engagements, reach, audience growth, new followers, engagement rate, totals with their change, engagements by weekday and audience breakdowns, where your network reports them). Engagement rate's figure is the average of the days. A total shows its change only when the whole previous period is inside your plan's analytics history. Add one as a chart, or pick up to 8 and click Make a report for a set of slides. Each chart is a copy of the numbers at that moment, with the account and dates in its caption; it doesn't update later. See Design an image from scratch.

  • Design with this waits until the numbers for the account and dates you picked have loaded.
  • It isn't available in the demo workspace, for LinkedIn Ads accounts or on a shared analytics link, and only appears where the designer is turned on for your workspace.
  • Whole-design AI in the designer works on its text, which can include an account name or a caption from these numbers.

Post and chart controls

  • Switch Post Overview between grid and list. Use content-type tabs and the post-type filter where offered, then apply with Done; Clear removes that filter.
  • Expand a long caption to read it. Open an image, carousel, video or document preview using its media control; close the viewer to return to the report.
  • View post opens the original where a link exists. Repost prepares content for reuse: inspect the composer, especially when a warning says mentions will become plain text. Boost Post opens its separate setup when offered.
  • On a boosted post, click Sponsored and choose View details to see the ad's amount spent, impressions, reach and clicks, with when they were last updated. See Check how a boosted post is performing.
  • A Delete action is a post-management operation, not a filter to hide a row. Read its confirmation before proceeding; cancel if you only wanted to change the report.
  • Deleting a post removes it from the network. Only the account owner and the workspace's Admins and Editors can do it; for Authors and Clients the deletion is refused and the post stays live.
  • Use a sortable table header to change ordering. Show More loads further results, while CSV exports the supported dataset.
  • Individual chart download controls export that chart. In demographic maps, use zoom in, zoom out and recenter when offered. Hover a plotted point, demographic segment or period-change value to inspect its breakdown.
  • Dismissing the sample-report banner only hides that notice. Use Demo View to change the data mode, then confirm the displayed profile and dates.
