Compare social accounts across networks
On this page
Review several social accounts together for the same date range.
Before you start
Connect the accounts you want to compare and select the workspace that contains them.
Open the feature
Choose Analytics > Cross Platform Analytics.
Steps
- Open the social account picker and select the accounts to include.
- Open the date picker and choose the period to review.
- Review the summary and the available audience, engagement, impressions and video-view charts.
- Click Customize on the Overview cards to choose which cards show. Unticking a card also hides its graph and its Summary Table column.
- To download the combined report, choose Export, then PDF - Global Data or PowerPoint (PPT), then Select metrics. Follow Create an analytics report.
- To email the report regularly, click Scheduled Report; it has the same Metrics step. To send a view-only link, click Shared Analytics. See Schedule analytics report email and Share an analytics report by link.
Separate total, organic and paid impressions
Where the impressions chart offers Total, Organic and Paid, select the measure you want to compare. Use the same reporting period for each view. Not every network reports both organic and paid impressions; missing provider breakdowns must not be treated as a complete cross-network paid-ad report.
Expected result
The report combines the selected accounts for the dates shown. The available charts depend on the networks selected. In Demographics, percentages are calculated from combined counts. The Based on labels show which selected platforms contribute data to each card; hover a value to see its breakdown by platform. When you come back in the same workspace, the page reopens with your last setup.
Example
Select your café’s Facebook Page and Instagram account, choose last month, and compare their contributions in the summary before exporting.
Limits and permissions
-
Networks do not all report the same metrics. A missing metric is not necessarily zero.
-
Demographics are available only for fields and platforms that report them. A card can show its own empty state while other cards still have data. If none of the selected profiles reports demographic data, the section explains which profiles to add.
-
The coverage label shows how many selected profiles report demographics. Hover it to see why named profiles were excluded, when that detail is available.
-
A card with no data shows a field-specific empty message. For example, country and city need profiles that report audience location; age and gender need profiles that report those fields; job function and industry are reported by LinkedIn Pages.
-
In the demographics section of a PDF export, fields with no data and hover-only platform breakdowns are omitted.
-
Demo View uses sample data and disables account/date changes.
-
Export and scheduled reporting have network and account restrictions; use the options enabled on the page.
-
If YouTube is selected, Export is unavailable. Unselect YouTube to export the other selected accounts.
-
Pinterest account totals can appear through several boards. Selecting boards from the same account counts those account metrics once. If older board data cannot be matched to its account, refresh analytics or ask Support to check the missing history before combining those boards.
Troubleshooting
- The date picker is disabled: select an account and leave Demo View.
- Data is still loading: wait for the loading state to finish.
- An account is unavailable: check workspace access and reconnect it if requested.
Customize and inspect the combined report
Select all intended profiles before comparing the summary, audience, engagement, impressions and video-view sections. Use Customize to adjust displayed metrics. Hover a chart or demographic value for the available contributing-platform detail. Missing fields can differ between cards, so one card's coverage should not be assumed for the entire report.
Use the combined report for owned-account totals and comparisons. Use Competitor Analysis to compare tracked competitors instead. Check the selected profiles again before exporting or creating a schedule; the schedule captures its configured selection. Exported demographics omit unsupported fields and hover-only breakdowns.
Segment, table and map controls
Where a chart offers Total, Organic and Paid, select the segment before interpreting or downloading it. These options depend on the metric and available network data. Sort the summary table by its column headers and review the re-sync indicator separately from the reported values.
Demographics use only the selected profiles that supply that field. Hover a segment to inspect its value. A missing location, age or gender field does not mean the audience has none; select supported profiles or leave that field out of your comparison.
