Manage account security
On this page
Change your password, connect Google as a sign-in method, and turn two-factor authentication (2FA) on or off.
Before you start
- Have your current Social Champ password ready.
- To turn on 2FA, install an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator.
Open the feature
Open Settings in the left sidebar, then choose Personal:
- Change Password to change your password.
- Security for sign-in methods and 2FA. The page heading is Security Settings.
Steps
To change your password:
- Open Change Password.
- Type your current password in Old Password.
- Type your new password in New Password and again in Confirm Password.
- Click Reset Password.
To connect Google as a sign-in method:
- Open Security and find Sign-in methods.
- Click Connect Google and choose your Google account.
- In Connect Google sign-in, type your Current Social Champ password and click Confirm and connect.
To turn on two-factor authentication:
- Open Security and find Two-factor authentication.
- Click Enable 2FA. The Two-Factor Authentication Setup window opens.
- Scan the barcode with your authenticator app.
- Type the code from the app into Enter Verification code and click Enable.
Respond to a workspace 2FA requirement
If Two-Factor Authentication Required appears, read the displayed Deadline and choose Set Up 2FA to open Security settings. Complete setup before the deadline to keep workspace access. Remind me Later is offered only while the grace period remains; it does not remove the requirement.
Enable 2FA before requiring it for your workspace
If you are an owner or workspace Admin, complete personal 2FA setup before turning on Enforce 2FA for All Members. If the workspace form sends you here, finish setup, then return to create or edit the workspace, choose the enforcement deadline and save. Personal setup and saving the workspace requirement are separate steps.
Expected result
- After a password change, you sign in with your new password from then on.
- After connecting Google, Sign-in methods shows Google as Connected with its email address.
- After turning on 2FA, the button changes to Disable 2FA. You'll need a code from your authenticator app when you sign in.
Example
To add 2FA to your account, open Settings > Personal > Security and click Enable 2FA. Scan the barcode with Google Authenticator on your phone, type the code it shows into Enter Verification code, and click Enable. The button now reads Disable 2FA.
Limits and permissions
- New passwords must be 8 to 20 characters long.
- If you signed up with a social platform such as Google, you can't change a password on Change Password. The page tells you when that applies.
- If your account's sign-in is managed by another provider, Connect Google isn't shown.
- To turn off 2FA, click Disable 2FA, click Deactivate, then enter a code from your authenticator app and click Disable. Keep the app until you've done this.
- Single Sign-On (SSO) for your whole organization is set up under Settings > Organization > Security. It depends on your plan and is only available to people who manage the team.
Troubleshooting
When reporting a Publisher error to support, include the action and approximate time. Its general error log omits submitted form contents and URL parameter values; share the visible error message rather than passwords or access tokens. This does not describe every service or historical log.
- "New password does not match.": type the same new password in New Password and Confirm Password.
- You don't remember your current password: sign out and reset it instead. See Reset a Social Champ password.
- The verification code is rejected: codes expire quickly. Type the newest code from your app, and check your phone's time is set automatically.
- Sign-in methods won't load: click Retry.
