Connect an external AI client
On this page
Use the MCP connection page to connect an AI assistant to Social Champ.
Before you start
Use an account Owner or eligible Admin login. Review the workspace and requested permissions before approving access. The AI client needs to support the connection method shown on the page.
Open the feature
Choose Settings > Developer > MCP.
Steps
- Under Set up your client, select the AI tool you use.
- Follow the displayed setup steps and copy the Server URL when requested.
- Sign in through the connection flow and review the access request before approving.
- Return to Connected clients and check that the expected client appears.
- Choose Revoke for a connection your role is allowed to revoke. Owners can revoke any connection; eligible Admins can revoke Admin-owned connections, including another Admin’s.
Enable approval workflows and bulk agency actions
Connect as the Owner of the account you want the AI client to use. On the consent screen, select Allow approval workflows and bulk agency actions (account owners only) if you need those operations, then approve the connection. This optional permission covers approval tasks and certain bulk actions; it is not included just because the client can read or schedule posts.
An Admin connection cannot receive this permission. Approval decisions still require the connected account to be an approver at the post's current workflow stage.
For an existing connection without this permission, disconnect Social Champ in your AI client, reconnect, select the account you own and enable the option on the consent screen. Review the connection again under Connected clients. For practical examples, see Work with Social Champ from an external AI client.
Expected result
The connected client appears in the list and can use its approved Social Champ permissions.
Example
Connect an approved AI client, then ask it to read your schedule before using any action that changes content.
Limits and permissions
- This connection uses OAuth; the page does not require an API key.
- Connecting a client gives it the permissions you approve.
- Owners can revoke any connection. Eligible Admins can revoke Admin-owned connections, but cannot revoke Owner-owned connections or older connections without a recorded role. Ask the account Owner to revoke those connections.
- Provider subscriptions and usage charges are separate from the connection screen.
Troubleshooting
- A filtered schedule read asks for dates: include a start and end date no more than 93 days apart when filtering by post status or whether a post has an error.
- No client appears: finish the sign-in and authorization flow in your AI tool, then reload.
- The tool asks to sign in again after revocation: reconnect only if you want to restore its access.
- The page is unavailable: ask the owner to check your role.
- An approval or bulk action says permission is missing: reconnect as the account Owner and enable approval workflows on consent. Reconnecting an Admin connection cannot grant this permission.
- An approval says you are not an approver: ask the workflow owner to review the active stage. Connection permission does not add you to an approval workflow.
