Connect an advertising account
On this page
Connect an ad account so you can boost your posts from Social Champ.
Before you start
- Connect the social account you want to boost posts from, such as a Facebook Page, Instagram business account, LinkedIn Page, TikTok account.
- In your browser, sign in to the same network account that has access to the ad account. For Facebook, check the ad account is linked to your Page.
Open the feature
There are two ways in:
- For TikTok, open Settings, choose Workspace > Social Accounts, then click Add new social account.
- For any network that supports boosting, click Boost on a post in Calendar. The Boost settings window opens.
Steps
- To connect a TikTok ad account, choose TikTok on the Add Social Account page.
- In Select TikTok Profile Type, find the TikTok Ad Account card and click Connect Ad account. Sign in to TikTok and allow access.
- To choose an ad account while boosting, open Calendar and click Boost on a post.
- Under Campaign, open Choose Ad account: and pick your ad account.
- If your ad account isn't listed, click Refresh. If it's still missing, click Connect an Ad Account.
- Check the account shown in the Redirecting to window, then click Go To. Finish connecting the ad account on the network's site, then come back and open Boost again.
Expected result
Your ad account appears in Choose Ad account: when you boost a post from that social account. Connecting an ad account doesn't spend anything. The network charges your ad account once a boosted ad goes live.
Example
To boost a TikTok post, open Settings > Workspace > Social Accounts and click Add new social account. Choose TikTok, then click Connect Ad account on the TikTok Ad Account card and sign in to TikTok. Next, open Calendar, click Boost on your TikTok post, and pick your advertiser under Choose Ad account:.
Limits and permissions
- Boosting posts depends on your plan.
- Only Admins and the account owner can boost posts. For anyone else, Boost is greyed out with "Only Admins can boost posts."
- Boost is available for Facebook Pages, Instagram business accounts, LinkedIn Pages and TikTok.
- For Facebook and LinkedIn, Go To opens the network's ads tools in a new tab, so you set up the ad account there.
- X post boosting is available to eligible customers with a connected X profile and an eligible, funded X ad account. Existing plan and team permissions apply.
- For older posts, connecting the same profile in another workspace does not by itself prevent the owner from adding a boost. Team members still need access to the intended profile.
Troubleshooting
-
No ad accounts are listed: click Refresh. Check you're signed in to the network with the account that owns the ad account, and that the ad account is linked to your Page.
-
You see that your access token has expired: click Reauthenticate Now, then open Boost again. See Reconnect a social account.
-
Boost doesn't appear on a post: check the post is on a network that supports boosting. Posts that are already being boosted don't show it again.
With Ads on your account
Facebook Page and Instagram boosts run through Ads, on the client's ad account added there. Add it under Ads > Ad accounts; see Add a client's ad account. The ad accounts on this page stay in use for LinkedIn and TikTok boosts.
