The Google Analytics card shows a quick view of your website traffic next to your publishing numbers, for the workspace and dates the dashboard is showing.

Before you start

  • A Google Analytics (GA4) property must be connected to the workspace. An account owner, or a team member who can manage profiles in that workspace, can connect one.
  • Your plan must include Google Analytics. If it does not, the card asks you to upgrade instead of showing numbers.
  • You need the Analytics module in the workspace. Without it, the card is hidden.

Open the feature

Choose the Home logo in the sidebar. The Google Analytics card sits after Performance. You can move, resize or hide it from Customize like any other card.

Steps

  1. Choose a workspace in the workspace switcher at the top of the dashboard.
  2. Choose the date range in the date picker next to it.
  3. Read the three tiles: Sessions, Users and Page views. Each shows its change against the previous period of the same length, and a small trend line.
  4. Select View Google Analytics to open the full Google Analytics page on the same property and dates.

Expected result

The card's subtitle names the workspace, the property and the date range. When a workspace has more than one property, the card shows the default property (the first one on the Google Analytics page) and says how many others there are.

Under All Workspaces, the card asks you to choose a workspace. Each workspace reports on its own website, and visitors cannot be added up across sites without counting the same person twice.

Example

With the range set to the last 7 days, a workspace's card might show 1,610 sessions (up 12%), 1,240 users and 4,200 page views.

Limits and permissions

  • The Google Analytics page reports on at most the last 30 days, up to yesterday. View Google Analytics opens it on the part of your dashboard range that fits inside that window.
  • The card shows one workspace at a time. Under All Workspaces it does not total several websites.
  • Team members without permission to manage profiles see a note instead of the Connect Google Analytics and Reconnect buttons. An account owner can make the change.
  • A plan downgrade hides the numbers but does not disconnect the property. The numbers return when the plan includes Google Analytics again.

Troubleshooting

  • "Connect Google Analytics to see website performance here": no property is connected to the workspace. Select Connect Google Analytics, or ask an account owner.
  • "Reconnect Google Analytics to refresh this data": Google no longer accepts the saved access. Select Reconnect and sign in to Google again. If the card read the property in the last 30 days, it shows those figures faded, with the date they were read.
  • "Google Analytics did not respond in time" or "Google Analytics could not be read": your connection is not affected. Select Retry after a moment.
  • "No Google Analytics data for this date range.": the property is connected but recorded no traffic in those dates. Try a wider range.
  • A tile shows "Unavailable": Google did not return that metric. The other tiles are still correct.
  • "Pick a workspace to see Google Analytics": the dashboard is set to All Workspaces. Select Choose a workspace and pick one.
