Pause, resume, change the budget of, or end a campaign, and see its spend, results and history. Boosts started in Publish are managed the same way.

Before you start

Anyone who can view Ads can pause a campaign. Only the account owner and Admins can resume, change the budget, launch a draft or end a campaign.

Open the feature

Click Ads > Campaigns, then click the campaign.

Steps

  1. Read the state at the top right and when the network last confirmed it.
  2. To pause, click Pause. To resume, click Resume. The resume window shows what resuming turns back on and asks you to type the amount when that's more than 500 in the account's currency.
  3. To change the budget, click Adjust budget, enter the new amount and check its effect on the ad account's monthly allowance. When the new total is more than 500 in the account's currency, type it to confirm.
  4. To stop for good, click End campaign. For a draft or a boost waiting for its post, this removes it; nothing was sent.
  5. When the state is State unknown, click Check with the network (Meta, Google Ads, TikTok or LinkedIn) to read it now.

Expected result

While the network confirms a change, the state shows Pausing, Resuming or Ending. The page shows the new state only after the network confirms it. Every action and the network's answer is listed under Activity.

Example

A campaign is Auto-paused because it spent $186 in three hours against about $60 expected. You lower the daily budget, then click Resume.

Limits and permissions

  • Spend, reach, clicks and cost per click are as reported by the network, since launch. Daily spend shows the last 7 days.
  • A campaign on an ad account you lost access to shows No access. It can't be controlled from Social Champ; stop it in the network's ads manager.
  • Spend protection may pause a campaign after its first day of delivery when today's spend runs more than 50% above its budget for that time of day.

Troubleshooting

  • Failed to launch: the campaign page says why, for example a schedule that was too short or a budget below the network's minimum. Fix it with Fix and resubmit; once the new campaign is made, it takes the failed one's place in the list. Nothing was spent.
  • "The network didn't confirm the pause. Assume it's still running": try again, or pause it in the network's ads manager.
  • Resume or Adjust budget is greyed out with an allowance message: the ad account reached its allowance. Request a higher one, or wait for next month.
  • State unknown: the network hasn't answered for 45 minutes. Click Check with the network; until it answers, assume the campaign is still spending.
